About CRCs
Cooperative Research Centres, commonly known as ‘CRCs’, bring together researchers and research users across a wide range of different areas.
The CRC Program was established in 1990, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of Australia’s research and development efforts.
The Program emphasises the importance of collaboration to maximise the benefits of research, with each CRC comprising partners from universities and commercial organisations; some also include government bodies, CSIRO and other organisations.
Each CRC also has a strong education component, with a focus on producing graduates with skills relevant to industry needs.
There are currently approximately 70 CRCs operating across six sectors.
